Vibro-Sheer
Louver Making
MACHINE SHOP
The Vibro-Sheer is an electric power hammer tool. It hammers desired shapes into sheet metal by using a set of dies. The bottom die is firmly mounted to the lower half of the machine while the top die travels up and down in a hammer like action at high speed. The Vibro-Sheer also has an adjustable guide that allows the metal to be accurately passed through the dies at right angles. The ability to quickly change the dies and the distance between the hammered shapes makes the Vibro-sheer extremely useful in the panel making process.
Louvers can be made any length due to the way the Vibro-Sheer dies cut and hammer the shape into the panel at the same time. The minimum spacing between the louvers is about 20mm. By spacing the louvers further apart we can create different looks and styles to suit your needs. By lengthening and shortening the louvers they can follow the contour of a guard, avoid important items in the engine bay or give your custom job an art deco look. There are two types of louvers French and English. French louvers are punched down into the bonnet side. This makes the bonnet side appear to be flat on the outside with the opening facing forward to allow the engine heat escape. English louvers are punched upwards on the bonnet sides. This gives the louver a raised appearance on the outside. The opening faces towards the rear to allow the engine heat to escape. Louvers are also used in inner guard panels, air-condition outlets, de-mister outlets units, and under trays. We have a standard sized louver die that we use for most louver jobs. We can modify the louver size however this is very expensive in comparison to using the standard sized louver die. This is usually reserved for accurate reproductions of original panels.
