40 years of vintage and classic car restorations.
2003 - present
In 2003, the Skidmore family moved from Western Sydney to Crookwell. Gill and Sara decided to continue with the trading name Sydney Vintage Car Restorations.

SVCR has continued to see an increase in demand since its move to Crookwell. To cater for this, Gill continued to invest in workshop machinery to increase productivity and reduce costs. Recently Gill upgraded the machine shop to include a power hammer, power guillotine and spot welder. An additional storage facility was built to house parts and vehicles.
During the last 18 years Gill has taken on three apprentices; Stephanie, Jered and Chris. Both Chris and Jered completed their trade certificates. Chris continued to work at SVCR for nine years expanding his skills in both painting and panel fabrication.
SVCR also hosted car club display and demonstration days. These days were hosted to encourage car clubs to visit Crookwell and to showcase the vintage and classic cars under restoration. Car club members would enjoy a workshop tour, BBQ and demonstrations. On many occasions car club members were often found wandering around the workshop or chatting to Gill, Sara, Tim & Shannon for hours after the display day had officially ended.
Over the past 40 years SVCR has restored hundreds of vintage and classic cars. Thousands of vintage and classic car enthusiasts have visited the workshop for formal club tours. Gill, Sara, Tim and Shannon are delighted that SVCR continues to interest visitors and carry out high quality restorations.
A message from Gill,
“I can’t believe forty years has passed. I still enjoy my trade and enjoy working on vintage cars. I have enjoyed meeting so many enthusiasts and customers over the years. I would like to thank Sara for supporting and sharing my passion over the years. I would like to also take this time to thank those who have worked for Sydney Vintage and those who have helped build the business to where it is today. I must also say that it is hard at times to work in a family business but it can be very rewarding too. I am proud to see Shannon and Timothy enjoying their work and be a part of Sydney Vintage. Where to from here? I don’t know, I’ve got to get back to work”. Gill.
